Production
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 1, 2008
Lactoferrin expansion required to meet increasing
global demand in infant formula and infant nutrition.
Junction City, Kansas - Today, Ventria Bioscience announced
it has successfully increased production of lactoferrin. Lactoferrin
is a protein that is found naturally in breastmilk and has been
credited with improved health benefits for breastfed children.
It is used worldwide in infant formula and other functional foods.
Ventria produces its lactoferrin by extracting the protein from
rice produced by Kansas farmers.
“Expansion of our lactoferrin production allows us to meet
the increasing demand for this important nutrient which is used
globally in infant formula and other infant nutrition products,” said
Greg Unruh, General Manager. “We now have production to
deliver thousands of kilograms of lactoferrin.”
